Hats to die for! There are artists you meet by chance at a cocktail party or dinner whose name you simply cannot forget. My first encounter with Fabienne Delvigne was marked above all by a dapper hat, floating in the middle of a reception held in a beautiful hotel in Brussels. From this circumstance was born a complicity and then, very quickly, the desire to transcribe her unique universe through my articles in the press, but also through more profound texts, in which her true artistic sensibility would be revealed. The idea of celebrating thirty years of creation of the Maison Fabienne Delvigne was the ideal pretext to launch the writing of this multifaceted work. A touch of mischief, a teeming imagination, a zest of innovation, perhaps I should say audacity, gaiety personified and above all a good dose of passion at the service of loyal customers who came from all over Europe to have their hats gracefully fitted. Here is a brief portrait of this delightful milliner. A perfectionist to the tips of her scissors, Fabienne never leaves anything to chance and leads her life at a hundred miles an hour without ever losing her enthusiasm. A happy entrepreneur, a tightrope walker at heart, she happily juggles between the moments devoted to creation, comfortably installed in her pretty Brussels mansion where she has set up her boudoir workshop, her appearances at cocktail parties and social gatherings where she never misses an opportunity to wear her creations and her family life which she certainly does not intend to sacrifice. A woman of character, Fabienne wishes to enhance the beauty of her clients through difference. She knows how to bring a refreshing perspective on fashion, a free and sensual perspective where ugliness finds no grace. A true ode to beautiful aesthetics, her hats aspire to make the world a more beautiful place. Made using artisanal know-how, they nevertheless never fail to surprise with their creativity and modernity. Driven by her passion, she takes on every challenge and successfully achieves the bold challenge of making the object desirable, inseparable from the personality and silhouette of women by restoring the dream aspect of wearing hats. Entering her workshop is like suspending time and allowing yourself a moment of pure artistic pleasure. There, she creates unique pieces inspired by the materials she works with, sculpting and draping them with skill until she finds the perfect shape, the right styling, or the absolute balance between originality and femininity. Her elegant hats are displayed on the long shelves among the pretty round boxes made to measure. A true delight for the eyes, the priceless impression of falling back into childhood, of dreaming of being a fairytale princess. In one of his poems, Paul Eluard praises a woman through the curve of her eyes alone. He would have, without a doubt, been won over by Fabienne Delvigne's artistic vision, where the curve is king. Is the hat trendy? Definitely! Especially when it comes to life in Fabienne's hands! In the following pages, I'll let you discover her unique and fascinating journey.
