The first Science for Ancient Egyptian Materials and Technologies conference, hosted by His Excellency Prof. Khaled el-Enany, was held at the Manial Palace Museum in Cairo from 4 to 6 November 2017. It sought to provide a forum for specialists in the sciences of physics and chemistry applied to archaeology to meet, present, and exchange ideas. Above all, it aimed to highlight the importance of archaeological sciences and interdisciplinary approaches in Egyptological research. This volume brings together articles presenting high-level work that concerns all fields of archaeometry, conducted both on museum objects and on archaeological excavations. It provides a general overview of the extraordinary possibilities that this science offers in various fields and paves the way for its widespread application in archaeological research in Egypt.
