Ellsworth Kelly created the stage curtain and five monochrome panels for the auditorium of the Fondation Louis Vuitton building designed by Frank Gehry. Continuing his reflection on color, form, line, and space, the artist, who always sought to create a dialogue between painting and architecture, created a work that vibrates in space like musical notes. This first issue of Cahiers de la Fondation Louis Vuitton is devoted to this unique ensemble in Europe, as well as to a series of paintings and prints belonging to the Fondation's collection. An interview with Robert Storr, an essay by Ann Hindry, and a previously unpublished iconography put this commission into perspective and retrace the history of a major work.
