This book is in line with the previous volumes of the Caesarodunum series, which aims to present studies and research reports on the different aspects of Gallo-Roman civilization. It originates from a conference held in Nantes in 2016, and brings together articles with the common theme The divinities and cults present in the countryside of Roman Gaul and neighboring regions from the 1st century BC to the 4th century AD. It thus constitutes the second part of a more general theme, which focuses on The divinities and cults present in Roman Gaul and neighboring regions. The first part, which resulted in the previous Caesarodunum (reference 47838), was devoted to divinities and cults in cities and secondary towns. Once again, the articles gathered in these pages are based mainly on archaeological remains and epigraphy. They are devoted to figurative representations of divinities, to sanctuaries, to the presence of cult structures in the countryside of cities and of larger regions. As the previous volume had shown for towns, and as one might expect, this collection of works highlights that these inscriptions, these iconographic works and these architectural achievements participated in a significant way in the way and the framework of daily life and of feast days in the countryside and, as far as sanctuaries are concerned, in the rural landscapes, where they were numerous and familiar to the inhabitants.
