This book, dedicated to adapting housing to the threats facing our planet, is a combination of genres. A beautiful book in its size and visual presentation, it is aimed both at construction professionals who wish to adopt a more ecological approach and at the general public in search of inspiring ideas that inspire and give hope. It is also a call to action to get in tune with global emergencies. ; and, finally, the testimony through one hundred and fifty examples of a bubbling, and often ingenious, creativity which is just waiting to be put at the service of a better world.
To bring order to this profusion of projects, some very daring and others full of common sense, the book has been divided into nineteen verbs corresponding to nineteen architectural strategies. The chapters, entitled " breathe ", " cooperate ", " democratize ", " fill ", " float ", " print ", " transform ", " to weave »… invite the reader on a world tour of experiences, prototypes and effective solutions already implemented, and are an opportunity to hear the architects explain their approach. Located on five continents, from the chic neighborhoods of Amsterdam to the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria and islands threatened by rising waters, these new-style houses come from all types of actors.
Thanks to the work of collecting experiences carried out by the two authors, we understand that an architectural revolution is underway, which is interested in all dimensions of the building: relationship to the landscape and the environment, economy, materials, comfort, interior design, air conditioning, autonomy, energy efficiency, accessibility, etc. And that given the performance of modern materials and technologies, the only limit to innovation is the imagination of the designers.
