Originally from Shanghai, Parisian since 1981, Christian Lu has not denied his roots, too influenced by the renowned masters who guided his hand and his mind from a very young age, but he has gradually shed the constraints of learning, in order to forge his own path. Not unaware that the uprooted person lives his country more intensely, but perfectly integrated into his adopted land, for him, present and past do not contradict each other; they support and comfort each other. Also, it is the synthesis between Chinese wisdom, heir to landscape calligraphers, and the turbulence of Western gestural painting, which has guided his journey. And although at first glance, his practice is abstract, upon closer inspection, it evokes the idea of landscape, with its powerfully blended forms, accompanied by traveling germinations that lead to dreams.
