The Centre Pompidou is dedicating an exhibition to Christian Dotremont's Logograms: "What I do, in short, is exaggerate the natural freedom of writing." This is how the Belgian writer and artist Christian Dotremont (1922-1979) summed up the practice of the logogram, whose invention in 1962 is a striking illustration of the relationship between graphic art and literature. For the first time in a French museum, the Centre Pompidou is bringing together seventy logograms selected from among the most beautiful and important in several Belgian and French public and private collections. On this occasion, it is unveiling a collection recently enriched by the remarkable donation of Pierre and Micky Alechinsky.
