In early 1914, Gaston Migeon, curator of oriental objects at the Louvre, traveled to Russia. As he was also very interested in the art of his time, he had the opportunity to visit the two great Russian collectors of the time, who had acquired Monet, Degas, Gauguin, Picasso, Matisse, Bonnard, and others, while French museums had shunned them. It is this rare testimony that we are publishing, accompanied by Migeon's tribute to another great collector and donor, Isaac de Camondo.
