Best known for her work in architecture, urban planning, and furniture design, Charlotte Perriand nevertheless developed a "photographic interlude" during her career during the interwar period. Practiced both personally and as part of her research, Charlotte Perriand's photography is prolific: documentary shots, raw photos, and militant photomontages rooted in the political and social struggles of her time. Approaching her work from the perspective of photography revisits the history of the medium itself: Charlotte Perriand is one of those "non-photographers" who heralded the advent of the image as a hegemonic and transversal language of communication.
