THE BOOK Michel Audiard made Francis Blanche say, "It's curious among sailors, this need to make sentences." Here, there's no need to read the text to immerse yourself in the little-known world of the sea and sailors. This book features numerous watercolor drawings that arouse the reader's curiosity. Through his professional career, the author presents the French Navy and its ships in an educational way. The humorous illustrations of scenes from maritime life will lead the reader to discover the richness and diversity of this unique life. Adults and children will be able to escape, sail, question themselves, and perhaps better understand these sailors, globetrotters of the seas who sail for the greater glory of France's arms. THE AUTHOR After preparatory classes at the Prytanée de La Flèche, he entered the Naval Academy in 1982. He worked for 41 years in the Ministry of Defense and the French Navy. His profession, his Breton (Hoëdic Island) and Provençal (Toulon) origins draw his gaze towards the sea, a symbol of freedom. Fully assuming the nickname "Kermoco" (a term revealing the mixed origins of the sailors of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean (Ker: village or "at home" in Breton, Moco: sailor of Toulon or Provençal origin and more generally southerners), he crisscrossed the Bay of Biscay as well as the North Sea, the Gulf of Lion as well as the eastern Mediterranean, the Atlantic as well as the Pacific. At the same time, inspired by his painter grandmother, he immersed himself in the world of art, to work on his graphics and the colorful nuances of the world. His working notes, illustrated by sketches taken from life, then became scenes of life on board ships or in staff. He exhibited at the 43rd and 44th Naval Exhibitions as well as in numerous group and individual exhibitions. He now lives in Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer.
