After a childhood and adolescence marked by fascism and Nazism, Lorenza Mazzetti went into exile in London. She quickly finished her small nest egg, knocked on the door of the Slade School of Fine Art and gained admission through sheer nerve. There she stole the equipment needed to film an adaptation of Kafka's The Metamorphosis (then very little known) and attracted the attention of artistic circles. Audacity, strength and courage carried this traumatized young girl to the pinnacle of English creation. Lorenza Mazzetti participated in the history of English cinema alongside Lindsay Anderson, Karel Reisz and Tony Richardson; in 1956 they launched Free Cinema, a protest movement that demanded freedom of editing and subjects. This experience would pave the way for Angry Young Men. London Diary is presented in the form of a diary that deals with both the tragicomic details of his life and his relationships with the first European avant-garde of cinema with sincerity and humor.
