Born in Ferrara in 1842, Giovanni Boldini spent most of his career in Belle Époque Paris, of which he was one of its most sensitive and imaginative interpreters. A virtuoso painter, he enjoyed undeniable success during his lifetime and became the favorite portraitist of a wealthy and international clientele.
On the occasion of the retrospective at the Petit Palais, this first monograph in French devoted to Boldini takes us on a journey of discovery of a talented painter and brings to life the social, artistic and literary Paris of the turn of the 20th century.
Organized chronologically and thematically, this work presents nearly two hundred paintings, illuminated by essays by French and Italian specialists, as well as by numerous commentaries on works.
Exhibition "Pleasures and Days" at the Petit Palais from March 29, 2022 to July 24, 2022.
