Second volume of the magnificent four-volume series, discover 154 common plants and trees of France in this beautiful facsimile reproduction, vintage and charming with its old-fashioned feel and its 128 delicate illustrated plates, but still relevant today.
This 1900 work, a sequel to the first volume of the same title, invites us to admire 128 superb plates printed at the time in chromolithography, a process that has now disappeared. They represent 154 common plants and trees of France, mostly beautiful flowers, and are accompanied by indications on the main places where to find the plant, the flowering or fruiting time... written by a specialist of his time, R. Siélain. Each of these "wild" plants, described with its characteristics, is found, at the end of the work, in a special table by family and species. In this volume, independent of the first but which follows and completes it, the reader will find in particular representatives of 31 families that were not mentioned in series I, including water plants or marsh plants and species characteristic of the coast. This charming second volume of a series of four will delight curious hikers, amateur botanists and fine connoisseurs alike.
