3rd edition
The Art Deco style, an extraordinary profusion of ideas and boldness, succeeded the lyrical flowerings which, under the name of Art Nouveau or Modern Style, marked the transition from the 19th century to the 20th century. Without presuming the future, we can say that it constitutes the last truly original expression of French art before the eclecticism and internationalization - today we would say globalization - of the second half of the century.
This new version of Art Deco Furniture - first published in 1981 - incorporates most of the text from previous editions, including the chapter on ocean liners added in 1990. However, many entries have been supplemented. The illustrations have been updated with color photographs.
