THE Islamic Annals 55 offer a file on “Cities and spaces at war in the medieval Islamic world ( 4th -10th / 10th -16th centuries) century) ». From the 10th in the 16th century century, the militarization of power and societies intensified in the Islamic world. This issue, which is part of the work carried out at the IFAO on war as a social and cultural phenomenon, aims to contribute to a better understanding of the modalities of this militarization. The studies presented here focus on the spatial dimension of war, which has been largely neglected by researchers. They shed light not only on how populations perceived and experienced war, but also on how it could configure or reconfigure spaces, particularly urban spaces, in the Iberian Peninsula, the Maghreb, Egypt, and throughout the Middle East.

The issue also includes a free section, the varied . These various bring together five articles which cover the disciplinary and chronological fields defined by the editorial line of the journal.
