The 10th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award is dedicated to the Amazon and addresses the issues related to its deforestation. This edition supports a photographic investigation project by Tommaso Protti, which highlights the upheavals affecting the Amazon, to fuel reflection on the consequences of massive deforestation. Created in 2009 by the Carmignac Foundation, the Carmignac Photojournalism Award's mission is to support, each year, the production of an investigative photographic and journalistic report in a region where "fundamental freedoms and rights are threatened." The jury is chaired in 2019 by Yolanda Kakabatse, Minister of the Environment in Ecuador between 1998 and 2000 and then President of WWF between 2010 and 2017.
