This album is dedicated to the work of Ivan Aivazovsky (1817-1900), one of the most famous Russian marine painters. The artist's paintings were highly appreciated both abroad and at home during his lifetime. The painter was a member of the art academies of St. Petersburg, Rome, Florence, Amsterdam and Stuttgart. The immense legacy left by Aivazovsky (about 6,000 works) is represented in the album by selection of his most important works kept at the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Feodosia Picture Gallery and other museums of the Soviet Union (The Wave, The Ninth Wave, The Black Sea, etc.). Photographs included in the album illustrate the life and activity of the painter during his stay in Feodosia.
